India’s biggest motorcycling extravaganza has begun with much furore as Triumph India has unveiled the 2018 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster at the event. The Bonneville Speedmaster is expected to be priced at INR 10 lakh (ex-showroom India) which is slated to arrive in India by early next year. The bike is already on sale in UK and was first unveiled at the company’s facility in Hinckley, UK. That said, the bike will be launched in India by early 2018. The Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber and will be the most affordable cruiser from the British bike maker. The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is powered by the same 1200cc SOHC, parallel twin, liquid-cooled engine from the Bonneville Bobber, which comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine is capable of churning out 76 BHP of maximum power at 6,100 RPM while developing 106 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 RPM. The 6-speed gearbox also comes equipped with slipper clutch. Technical aids include dual channel ABS, cruise control system, switchable traction control, ride-by-wire system and twin riding modes.
Suspension duties are shouldered by a KYB sourced 41mm front suspension with cartridge damping while the rear gets a KYB mono-shock. The bike gets a 12-litre fuel tank, which is 2-litres more than the Bonneville Bobber. The bike drops anchors with the help of twin 310 mm disc brakes upfront with Brembo two-piston callipers while the rear gets a single 255 mm disc brake with single-piston Nissin calliper. The Bonneville Speedmaster gets some chrome treatment on the handlebars and other bits while the bike also gets a small pillion seat.
